A water buffalo cow is milked inside a robotic milking machine at a large intensive buffalo dairy farm. Each cow wears an identification collar with a transponder, allowing the robot to recognize individual animals as they enter, with its computer tracking data including milk production for each cow. The farm's four robotic stations operate 24 hours daily. The cows approach the milking stations independently, associating this practice with relief from their constantly swollen udders.
